Project Description: New 480,000 Square foot replacement medical center in conjunction with a new 30,000 square foot central utility plant.
Project Goals: Provide energy savings design to reduce energy and operating costs as well as campus emissions.
Solution Caveats: 20% return on investment, significant emissions reduction.
Alternatives Considered: Electric Photovoltaic Panels, Natural Gas Engine Cogeneration, Natural Gas Engine Driven Chillers, Bloom Energy Fuel Cell.
Solution Chosen: 750KW Natural Gas Cogeneration System.
Project Results: 33% return on investment and a 14% reduction on facilities overall carbon foot print, (650 tons / year) and 26% reduction of NOx (1.9 tons / year).
